personifying your
power company
With a large influx of competitors in the energy market, Powershop became decidedly stuck in the mud. They needed to remind the people of New Zealand what they stood for, they were a power company for the people. In order to convince Kiwis that they were going to get a more fair deal with the pink power provider, we needed to build up that trust and rapport again; we needed to personify Powershop.
Power, personified was a campaign that stretched across static digital, social & TV. The need for a complete disruption in the energy field was clear and we wasted no time in suggesting something absolutely absurd: what if we made Powershop a person? Ok well, maybe not so much a person and more a loveable sentient pink blob, but you get the picture. Lovingly dubbed “Joules”, the delicate pink giant became Powershop’s new mascot, who featured in a new campaign all about developing a relationship with your power company. No more exploitation or bad blood between you and big energy, just mutual trust and support with you and Powershop.
Joules became an overnight sensation for Kiwis across the country, marking an all time growth high for Powershop in 6 years and lifting brand awareness by 21%. Powershop loved their new mascot so much, they’ve gone on to feature Joules in several more campaigns, each more successful than the last.
